Prasannadeb Women's College

PD Women's College, Jalpaiguri was established with the aim of encouraging quality higher education solely for women not only in a developmentally backward district of West Bengal but also in the developmentally laggard region of North Bengal. It is located on the bank of Karola River, a tributary of Tista, in the south-eastern part of Jalpaiguri town, the headquarters of the district of West Bengal. It is spread across an area of 5.43 acres. The college has been acknowledged by the University Grants Commission of India under 2(f) and 12(B) since 1956 and is affiliated with the University of North Bengal.

The college has been accredited to National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B++ grade in 2016.  PD Women's College Courses:

The college provides three-year Honors and General courses in BA and B.Sc streams. Together with BA / B.Sc, as an addition to a career-oriented course, a student may take up a certificate (in 1st Year)/Diploma (in 2nd Year)/Advanced Diploma (in 3rd Year) course in Travel & Tourism Management (TTM) and Computer Application. 2nd year/3rd-year students may, if they so wish, take a certificate course with 1st-year students in any of the career-oriented programs. B.Sc Part I & II General Course:

For Pure - Science Group options available are Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry / Computer Science. And for BioScience Group: Botany, Zoology, Chemistry.

Permissible Combination of General Subjects for Part I & II B.Sc. Honours Course:

In addition to Honors and two particular topics in Honors Course or three particular topics in General Course, each year the learners have to study on a mandatory document. Students must learn Environmental Studies in Part I. Students must study compulsory English in Part II and learners must learn one of the major Indian languages (MIL) in Part III: (Bengali-taught in university) or (Hindi / Nepali / Urdu — not taught in school).

NOTE: Seats are reserved for both Hons candidates SC, OBC-A, OBC-B, ST and Differently Abled (Physically Challenged). And the General Course according to the Govt. Rules in this respect.

PD Women's College Eligibility Criteria:

PD Women's College offers numerous courses under multiple disciplines. All these courses have different eligibility criteria and selection procedures. The criteria and admission process is mentioned below.

NOTE: Applicants must have passed as a mandatory topic in the H.S. in at least four topics excluding Environmental Studies with English. (10 + 2) or equivalent examination acknowledged by the University of Northern Bengal. 

• Candidates applying for Honours Courses require either 55% in the Aggregate or 50%in the Aggregate with 60% marks in the subject concerned.
• The minimum marks for eligibility for SC / ST applicants shall be 50% marks in the aggregate or 45% marks in the aggregate with 60% marks in the topic.

PD Women's College Admission:
